During the first visit, we make sure to obtain important background information, like your medical history, and give you time to get to know your doctor.  We accept most insurances.

Please arrive early so that we can complete your initial paperwork. Also, please bring the following:

  • Patient's photo ID and insurance card
  • List of current prescriptions and/or over-the-counter medication, including dose and frequency
  • Information about patient's medical and surgical history
  • Recent test results, x-rays, or relevant records

Insurance and Payment Information

Our office accepts a variety of health care plans including, Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, Aetna, Horizon Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, United Health Care, and many other HMOs and PPOs. Please call our office to verify acceptance of your insurance carrier and for any billing questions.

  • Digital X-rays with immediate results
  • Biomechanical evaluation of balance, structure, deformities, limb length differences which may cause back pain or knee pain
  • Wound Care including in office grafting
  • Surgical consultations, including in office procedures, out-patient surgical procedures and in-patient surgical procedures
  • Excision of ingrown toenails
  • Wart removal
  • Skin lesion biopsy
  • Diabetic foot care
  • Fracture Care

Medical Emergencies

In the event of a life-threatening medical emergency, call medical emergency services at 911 immediately. DO NOT WAIT! Inform the emergency room staff that you are a patient of Sussman Foot & Ankle, and they will contact us.

After Hours Urgent Medical Needs

If you have an urgent medical needs and need to talk to our doctors after our regular hours, please call our office at 732-776-7260. A doctor is on-call 24 hours a day. Your call will be returned promptly.

Insurance / Payment / Billing

At Sussman Foot & Ankle, we accept most major insurance plans, including Aetna. Please contact your insurance company or you may call our office at (732) 776-7260 to find out if we accept your insurance plan.


If your insurance is an HMO/managed care plan and you are required to obtain a referral from your primary care physician, the referral must be obtained before you can be seen for an office visit. Please coordinate this with your primary care physician in advance. Appointments will be rescheduled if required referrals are not received in the office by the time of your visit.

Prescription Request

Prescriptions and refills for established patients of Sussman Foot & Ankle are routinely issued during our regular office hours (see above). You can make your request by calling our office at (732) 776-7260. No refills are issued during the evenings, weekends, or holidays, as the doctors do not have access to your medical records during those times. It is helpful to anticipate your refill needs to avoid an interruption in your medication therapy.
